Step 1: Apply now online at simtinstitute.org for the course you want to join and pay the examination fees.

Step 2: You shall receive an e-mail invite to appear for a Personal Interview at either Mumbai or the details of the venue will be sent by email. The interview venue is decided in advance and is at the sole discretion of SIMTI. The candidate shall not be given a preference to choose a date.

Academic standards:

(a)Pass with aggregate 40% marks in 10th standard with Science, and Mathematics as subjects.

(b) The candidates must have secured a minimum of 40% marks in English in the 10th

standard exams or 12th standard exam

Note –1. The candidate must have passed the 10th standard from a recognized board.

                                                                             AND

(a)Pass a 2-year ITI course (Fitter / Machinist / Mechanic / Welder / Turner) from Govt. Approved Institute with Minimum 50% Aggregate marks in the final year.

(b) The candidates must have secured a minimum of 40% marks in English in the 10th

standard exams or 12th standard exam

Note-1. The candidate must have passed the 10th standard from a recognized board.

OR

(a) Diploma or Degree holders.

(b) Pass with aggregate 40% marks in 10th Standard with Science, and Mathematics as subjects.

(c) The candidates must have secured a minimum of 40% marks in English in 10th standard exams or 12th standard exam.

Note – 1. The candidate must have passed the 10th standard from a recognized board. Government or the AICTE.

The maximum age limit for a degree or diploma is raised with a condition that these candidates are provided shipboard training within one year of completion of the course. The diploma or degree must be recognized by any State or Central.

Medical & Physical Standards: Candidates should be healthy and physically fit for sea service as per STCW 2010/MS Medical Rules 2000 and all its amendments as applicable to seafarers and have to undergo a Medical Examination with the company-appointed Doctor.

Personal Interview Process

  • Candidates will be called for an interview Subject to meeting the above & SIMTI requirements
  • Institute reserves the right to modify the cut-off limits at their discretion
  • Interview venue Mumbai (Shall be intimated adequately in advance before the process

Admission Process for GP Rating Course

Step 3: Medical Examination

Candidates selected in the personal interview will undergo a medical test conducted by a company-appointed doctor.

Step 4: Merit List

A merit list will be published on the institute's website, taking into account past academic scores, interview performance, and medical examination results.

Step 5: Seat Reservation

Candidates who make it to the merit list will be required to pay a booking amount to reserve their seats. They must also submit the necessary documents to the Admission Team either in person or by mail.

Step 6: Sponsorship Letter

After receiving the booking amount, candidates will be issued a sponsorship letter. This letter can be used to apply for educational loans from any nationalized bank.

Step 7: Joining Instructions

Candidates will receive joining instructions and a list of other documents that need to be submitted before the start of the course. Candidates must read these instructions carefully.

Step 8: Reporting to SIMTI

Candidates must report to SIMTI, Khopoli, on the morning of the course commencement date. The exact reporting date and time will be communicated to the candidates in advance.

Course Duration:

6 Months Pre – Sea Training (A residential Professional Course)

6 Months On Board Training as Trainee Seaman

On Completion of Onboard training & Obtaining a Certificate & Proficiency, the candidates are eligible for getting employment with any Shipping Company.

Candidates are advised to check their eligibility and fill out the application only if they meet the criteria.

Application Fees:

INR 500

Candidates who have appeared for the improvement examination or compartment / supplementary must have appeared in the same examination board for the improvement/compartment/supplementary exam. they change boards for the same, they are not eligible.

 Documents

Please note candidates who get selected with us must have mandatory documents AdharCard, PAN card, and Passport.
